WHERE WE GO

There are plenty of local spots where you can ride safely off-road. Many of our founder members are reluctant to travel on roads at all if they can avoid it and have made it their mission to find more bike-friendly places to enjoy two wheels.

Our "core business" is cross country riding. The midweek rides are generally centred on North Tyneside or Cramlington areas and we usually cover a fairly relaxed 20 miles or so. This can stretch in any direction to take in the areas around Morpeth in the north, Blyth and Tynemouth to Sunderland in the east and south, and across to Ovingham and up to Ponteland in the west.

Weekend rides are where the bulk of our efforts are concentrated, and we generally have a trip to one of the man made MTB trails in the Scottish Southern Uplands, the Lake District or North Yorkshire around once a month. Normally that means leaving home around 7:00 to 9:00 am Sunday morning and returning around 6:00pm after a 3 to 6 hour ride.

what you need
A mountain bike, anything will do but it should be reliable and safe, and a cycle helmet which we absolutely insist on for all rides.

why you need it
So that you can stop trying to keep yourself amused on lonely rides around your local area.

what will it cost you
Squat. Nuffink. All you need is you, your bike and a helmet,

what to do next
Send an e-mail to:

and tell us that you're interested, what type of riding you like to do, your approximate skill level, your age, area you live in (address not required) sex and as many other details as you dare. We will compile the data and begin the task of categorising our new membership and setting up some initial ride sessions. Phone numbers (home or mobe) may help us to organise things, but e-mail is perfectly acceptable.
