Who rode when and where? - listing here

It's been a long time coming, but now, thanks to a small group of local volunteers, there is a Newcastle upon Tyne based mountain bike club which can cater for all classes of rider from absolute novice kerb bumper to (potential) Downhill racer!

This website is intended to become your first stop for discovering where you can ride, when you can ride and who with in the Newcastle/Tyneside/Northumbria area.

As this is a new site to go with a new Club,we intend that it will develop slowly with as much relevant content as we find time to include to enable any level of rider to hook up with like-minded souls and hopefully get a bit more enjoyment out of the many and varied areas of our chosen hobby/sport.

Membership of NMBC is free. That means you can spend your cash on a helmet if you don't have one, and you're set. It'll be great to meet you, so have a click around and get in touch. Don't tell yourself you won't fit in, we're just like you, except some of us wear different heads once mounted on an MTB. Don't be shy - we've all done that and it makes it even harder to get started. We're a very easygoing, compact group and we'll take care of anyone who's interested enough to get in touch.

Before Winter struck we'd had five ladies come out with us, so don't hold back because you thought it was "lads only".

www.wiggle.co.uk Not always the cheapest but reliable and good to NMBC

If you want to ride with us, and can't get through to info@newcastlemtb.co.uk, then e-mail:

bailout@midaircrisis.org.uk

or you should find the squad at or near The Wheatsheaf Hotel at the Asda Superstore (Benton) end of the Great Lime Road, Forest Hall around 19.00 on most Thursday evenings, rain or shine! That's the end furthest away from the Nestle/Findus Factory. Bring a waterproof. And you MUST bring lights for winter rides!

NEXT DAY RIDE - SUNDAY - See www.midaircrisis.co.uk web site for full details. We'll listen to requests from some newer riders and see what the feeling is. There will be more "taster rides" to let you see what you'll be faced with on some of the Sunday rides on manmade trails, but we'll have to mix those rides up with other, less exacting local rides to try and keep riders of all abilities happy. PLEASE take note - some of the Sunday rides are a little demanding, and there can be an increased risk of injury. You take responsibility for that risk yourself!

Harder rides are being tackled over the winter months as only the more hardened riders are likely to turn out in extreme conditions. Or prove me wrong!

What You Need to Ride - Here

what you need
A mountain bike, anything will do but it should be reliable and safe, and a cycle helmet which we absolutely insist on for all rides.

why you need it
So that you can stop trying to keep yourself amused on lonely rides around your local area.

what will it cost you
Squat. Nuffink. All you need is you, your bike and a helmet,

what to do next
Send us an e-mail to:

and tell us that you're interested, what type of riding you like to do, your approximate skill level, your age, area you live in (address not required) sex and as many other details as you dare. We will get back to you with everthing you need to know, including sometimes setting up initial "quiet" ride sessions away from the pressure of a large group of strangers. Phone numbers (home or mobe) may help us to organise things, but e-mail is perfectly acceptable.

To see what we've been up to so far take a look at our "diary" site here:
